Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Design Engineer to support engineering design and spare parts projects. The role involves preparation of engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), design implementation, technical coordination, and ensuring design accuracy aligned with customer and project requirements.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in 3D modelling, SAP, Teamcenter, and machine design, along with experience handling manufacturing and aftermarket engineering activities.


Key Responsibilities

Design Engineering & Documentation

  • Prepare and release engineering drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Ensure alignment of designs with Sales Orders and project timelines
  • Implement and maintain drawings as per defined engineering workflows
  • Maintain engineering documentation in compliance with ISO QMS requirements

Project Planning & Execution

  • Prepare detailed work plans based on spare sales order deliverables
  • Monitor design release schedules and project execution plans
  • Track progress and coordinate with internal teams for timely completion
  • Support project execution during absence of Team Lead in CFT meetings

Technical Coordination

  • Participate in technical discussions with cross-functional teams
  • Coordinate with vendors for:
    • Technical clarifications
    • Approval of vendor drawings
  • Interact with sales teams and customers to understand technical requirements

Design Improvement & Innovation

  • Implement production and service feedback into design modifications
  • Provide innovative engineering solutions for customized requirements
  • Ensure safe, manufacturable, and serviceable design outputs

SAP & BOM Management

  • Handle BOM locking in SAP
  • Manage engineering data updates in Teamcenter and ERP systems
  • Ensure data accuracy and traceability across design documents

Quality & Process Compliance

  • Support internal engineering processes including:
    • CAPA
    • ECN (Engineering Change Note)
    • DCR (Design Change Request)
    • FMEA
    • Risk Assessments
    • ISO & Safety Audits
  • Contribute to standardization and inventory optimization initiatives

Team Support & Development

  • Support development of junior draftsmen and engineering team members
  • Provide technical guidance, feedback, and training where required

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Mechanical design principles
    • 3D modelling software
    • SAP and Teamcenter
  • Experience with machines such as:
    • FBE
    • Coater
    • HSM
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities
  • Attention to detail and process orientation

Eligibility Criteria

  • B.E – Mechanical Engineering
  • 7 – 8 years of experience in design engineering
  • Experience in manufacturing / automation industry preferred
  • Hands-on experience in BOM management and design workflows required
